The floating principle -
Many new motorcycles have multi-part, floating brake disks. These comprise an inside carrier and a brake ring which is either screwed, riveted or interconnected with movable floaters. This design has definite advantages in comparison to rigid brake disks:
- The carrier and brake ring can be of different materials. For example the inner ring can be made of light aluminum, and the outer ring can be a PEAK outer ring with optimum friction properties and low wear.
- Improved physical properties.
- The brake ring can be replaced individually. If the outer disk is worn, it can be simply replaced with a new disk.
More safety needs practice -
Take care - 100% more braking capacity is something you have to get used to! Fitting ABM 'PEAK' brake disks results in an extreme improvement in braking performance. Be prepared and test the brakes on safe terrain. You will ultimately profit more from the extra braking efficiency in the long term. Please also remember that new brake disks have to be run in for a while to enable the pad and disk to optimally adapt to one another.
